Activate the cursor

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create custom cursor and button, which we'll use for cursor activation. You will also learn how to convert custom cursor into a Movie Clip Symbol, how to apply some Action Script on it and more.



Step 1

Create a new flash document, choose Modify > Document (Ctrl+J) and set Width to 350px and Height to 300px. Frame rate set to 16fps.



Step 2


Using the Flash tools for drawing, create the custom cursor like it is shown on the picture below.



Step 3

Select the cursor and press F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert it into a Movie Clip.



Step 4

Then, open the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3), and under <Instance Name> type cursor.



Step 5

Double click on a new made Movie Clip (cursor), or choose right click and Edit in Place.



Step 6

Select only the "circle", press Ctrl+x key (cut), insert a new layer, name it circle, select it, and press Ctrl+Shift+V (Paste in Place).

Step 7

While your circle is still selected, press F8 key to convert it into a Movie Clip.

Step 8

After that, click on frame 20, press F6, open the Action Script Panel (F9), and paste this script:

gotoAndPlay(1);

Step 9

Go back on the first frame, open the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3), under Tween choose Motion, and under Rotate set CCW. See the picture below.



Step 10

Click on frame 20 of layer 1 and press F5.



Step 11

Go back on the main scene (Scene1), take the Text Tool (T), and type somewhere Activate the cursor. See the pictur below.



Step 12

While your text is still selected, press F8 key to Convert it into a Button.



Step 13

While your button is still selected, open the Action Script Panel (F9), and paste this script:

on (release) {
startDrag("cursor", true);
}

Test your Movie (Ctrl+Enter).
