Big Photoshop explosion

Learn how to create big explosion in Photoshop using the filters and some special Photoshop tools. This effect is so simple for create, but in the same time so attractive.

Step 1

Make a new document 300x300 and use a black background.



Step 2

Choose Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance. Then, click ok, to create a new Color Balance adjustment layer.

Step 3

In Color Balance Panel, set the following options, like the picture below shows you.



Step 4

Create a new layer and using the mouse, move it below the adjustment layer. See the picture below.



Step 5

Then, take the Brush Tool (B), for Brush size choose medium, for foreground color white and start making some marks.



Step 6

Take the Smudge Tool (R) and start pulling along the outside of your explosion to make it more rigid. See the picture below.



To get the best result, just start dragging inwards and outwards with a large brush.

Step 7

Choose Filter > Render > Lens Flare and for Brightness set 150%. See the picture below.



Now, you'll need to get something like this:



Step 8

Take the Smudge Tool again and U start dragging inwards around the outer circle of the flare.



Add some text or some object if you like.
