Fresh green text effect

In this, step by step tutorial, you will see how to create cool and practical green text effect using a mask. You don't have to use action script code to make this tutorial. Using this tutorial, you will also learn how to use Color mixer panel, how to convert any text into a Movie Clip Symbol and much more!



Step 1

First of all save my picture below, or find any other green background which you need to use to make this tutorial!



Step 2

Create a new flash document. Press Ctrl+J key on the keyboard (Document Properties) and set the width of your document to 300 pixels and the height to 220 pixels. Select any color as background color. Set your Flash movie's frame rate to 26 and click ok. See the picture below.



Step 3

Choose File > Import > Import to Stage (shortcut key:Ctrl+R) and import my picture into a flash stage. While the picture is still selected, go to the Align Panel (Ctrl+K) and do the following:

1. Make sure that the Align/Distribute to Stage button is turned on,
2. Click on the Align horizontal center button and
3. Click the Align vertical center button.



Step 4

Dobule click on layer 1 with Selection Tool (V) to rename its name into a background. After that, create a new layer above the layer background and name it text 1

Step 5

Take the Text Tool (A) and go to the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) below the stage. Then, choose the following options:

1. Select a Static Text field,
2. Select a Imperator as font.
3. Choose 39 as font size, bold it and make it italic.
4. Select #004221 as color.



Then, type any text or slogan into a flash stage.

Step 6

While the text is still selected, press twice time Ctrl+B key on the keyboard (Break apart), to break apart this text. See the picture below.



Step 7

While the break aparted text is still selected, go again to the Align Panel (Ctrl+K) and do the following:

1. Make sure that the Align/Distribute to Stage button is turned on,
2. Click on the Align horizontal center button and
3. Click the Align vertical center button.



While you're still on layer text 1 click on frame 200 and press F5 key.

Step 8

Go back now on the first frame of layer text 1 and press Ctrl + C key (Copy).

Step 9

Then, create a new layer above the layer text 1 and name it text 2. After that, click on frame 80 and press F7 key. After that, while you're still on frame 80, press Ctrl+Shift+V key  (paste in place).

Step 10

Click now on frame 120 and press again F7 key. After that, press again Ctrl + Shift+ V key (paste in place).

Step 11

Go back on layer text 1. After that, create a new layer above the layer text 1 and name it mask. See the picture below!

Step 12

Select now frame 80 of layer mask and press F6 key.

Step 13

While you're still  on frame 80 and take the Rectangle Tool (R). Then, draw a rectangle about 130x90px. While the rectangle is still selected, :open the Color Mixer Panel (Window > Color Mixer) and choose the following options:

1. Click on the paint bucket icon to select the Fill color.
2. Choose Linear as Type.
3. Click on the small color rectangle that is on the left side, move it using the Selection Tool a little right and set its color to #68E831. Alpha property set to 100 %
4. Click on the second rectangle from the right side, move it a little left and set its color to #C5FBB7. Alpha property also set to 100 %.



Step 14

Then, place that rectangle on the left side of text. See the picture below.



Step 15

Click now on frame 100 and 120 and press F6 key. Go back now on frame 100 and using the Selection Tool (V), move the rectangle on the right side of text. See the picture below.



Step 16

Go back now on frame 80. Then, go again to the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) below the stage. On the left You will see Tween drop down menu. Selec Shape on it. See the picture below.



Do this also for frame 100.

Step 17

Select now text 2 layer  and convert it to a mask by right-clicking on text 2 layer and selecting Mask. See the picture below.



Now, we're done!
