Using this thoroughly explained, detailed flash lesson, I will explain to you how to create glow text effect using the flash filters and some special flash tips and tricks. You don't have to use action script code to make this lesson! Using this lesson, you will also learn how to convert any text into a movie clip symbol, how to apply flash filters on it and much much more. Let's start!
Create a new flash document. Press Ctrl+J key on the keyboard (Document Properties) and set the dimensions of your document as whatever you like. Select #333333 color as background color. Set your Flash movie's frame rate to 33 and click ok.
Select the Text Tool (A), choose any font, any size, for color choose white and type any text on the flash stage!
While the text is still selected, hit F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert it into a Movie Clip Symbol.
Click now on frame 10 and 20 and hit F6 key.
While you're still on frame 20, select the Selection Tool (V) and click once on the text to select it. After that, go to the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) below the stage! Then, select Filters tab from the left side. Click after that on the plus icon and select the Glow filter. Make the adjustments as follows:
Go back now on the first frame and repeat the previous step!
Right-click anywhere on the gray area between frame 1 and 10 and frame 10 and 20 on the timeline and choose Create Shape Tween from the menu that appears. See the picture below.
