Use this tutorial and see how to convert gray scale image into a coloring image with no Action Script. To create this effect, you have to use Mask effect. You will also learn hwo to use Align Panel adn more.
Find any picture in color and in photoshop, or any other graphic program (could be done in flash also) set its dimension to 300x225px and save it.
After that open that picture in photoshop and press Ctrl+Shift+U keys to transform it into a gray scale image. Now you have two pctures: 1. picture in color and 2. gray scale image.
Open a new Flash document. Select Modify > Document (shortcut key: Ctrl+J). Set the width of your document to 300 pixels and the height to 225 pixels. For Frame rate choose 10fps (Frames per Second) and click OK.
Press Ctrl+R key (Import to Stage) and import gray scale image. After that go to the Align panel. If it isn't opened already, just select Window > Align or press Ctrl+K to open it. While the image is still selected, do the following in the Align panel:
1. Make sure that the Align/Distribute to Stage button is turned on,
2. Click on the Align horizontal center button and
3. Click the Align vertical center button.
Create a new layer (layer 2), select it and press again Ctrl+R (Import to stage) and import picture in color. Then, repeat the previous step.
Create a new layer and name it mask.
Take the Rectangle Tool (R), for Fill Color choose black color, for Stroke color choose No color and draw a "rectangle" like it is shown on the picture below!
Select that "rectangle" and press F8 (Convert to symbol) to convert this "rectangle" into a Graphic Symbol. See the picture below.
Click on frame 40 of layer mask and press F6. after that click on frame 40 of layer 1 and layer 2 and press F5. See the picture below.
Go back on frame 40 of layer mask, select the "rectangle", take the Free Transform Tool (Q) and do like it is shown on the picture below!
Select the mask layer, open the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) and for Tween choose Motion.
Select the mask layer again and convert it to a mask by right-clicking on the mask layer and selecting Mask.
