See this lesson and learn how to create simple mask effect in flash with no action script. You will also learn how to use Color Mixer panel, how to convert any object into a graphic symbol and more.
Open a new Flash document. Select Modify > Document (shortcut key: Ctrl+J). Set the width of your document to 300 pixels and the height to 150 pixels. For Frame rate choose 24 fps (Frames per Second) and click ok.
Take the Text Tool (A), for Fill Color choose black color and write any text on the stage. For this example I'll write Toxiclab.org.
Create a new layer (layer2) and using drag and drop technique move it beneath layer1. See the picture below.
Select layer2, take the Rectangle Tool (R), For Fill Color choose black color, for Stroke color choose No color, and draw some large "Rectangle". See the picture below
Take the Selection Tool (V), click once on "Rectangle" to select it, open the Color Mixer window (Shift+F9), and for Fill style choose Radial.
Select again that "Rectangle" and press F8 key (Convert to Symbol), to convert this "Rectangle" into a Graphic Symobl.
Click on frame 40 of layer1 and press F5. After thatm click on frame 40 of layer2 and press F6. See the picture below.
Click on frame 40 of layer 2 and using the arrow keys on the keyboard or by mouse, move the "Rectangle" on the right side. See the picture below.
Select layer 2, open the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) and for Tween choose Motion.
Select layer1 and convert it to a mask by right-clicking on the layer1 and selecting Mask. See the picture below
